Chromebook Guide - Arley Example
Logging in
When a Chromebook is booted up you will be presented with the pupil login screen.
The pupil Chromebook will automatically log in as the default pupil account after 5 seconds.

It is important to know that this pupil account is wiped every time the Chromebook is logged out. No files or photos are stored on the Chromebooks when the session ends!
Once the account has logged in you can use the browser to access online resources.

Taskbar
The taskbar contains the most requested apps as shortcuts. If you would like any websites adding here, please email ict@ietrust.org

App menu
The app menu accessed from the bottom left corner contains all the other apps and shortcuts you may need. Access to Files, the camera and other shortcuts added by ICT.

Web browsing
Pupils can browse the web using the Chrome app. School level filtering is applied and safeguarding is carried out by Smoothwall.

Office Applications
To use Office apps, such as Word, Excel, etc, the pupils will need to log in.
There is a shortcut on the taskbar to take them to the correct website

Pupils should press sign in

Enter their username including the @ietpupil.org address

Enter their password

Pupils can choose to stay signed in as the details will be wiped when they exit the session.

Pupils can create any type of document from the Create menu on the left. Direct them to pick the correct one.

Pupils should name their documents appropriately. If required they can share their documents with staff or other pupils as directed by their teachers.
Documents are automatically saved to the pupils account as they work. Pupils should check that the green tick appears next to the document name before they exit the app.

Ending the class
When the pupils have finished they can click the Exit Session button from the taskbar to log out.
Warning: This will remove any files saved locally to the Chromebook (e.g. photos saved from the web or camera). All work should be saved in the Office apps or OneDrive.
